Kelly Lopez — Reception
Kelly is probably the first friendly face you’ll encounter when you step into Ormewood—though her coworkers say they only see her when she’s eating something. But there’s much more to Kelly than her love for a good meal or snack. Her true passion is working with the patients who pass through the hospital doors.
Growing up around cats and dogs, it’s no surprise that Kelly enjoys working with animals. Her extended family even has donkeys and a farm, which further fostered her love for animals. Currently, she’s the proud parent of seven cats (yes, seven). The clowder started off with just one cat. Then she took in a stray that her father found. With good intentions, Kelly thought the stray needed a friend, so she welcomed cat number three to the fold. It turned out the stray didn’t want a friend. The cats kept coming and she just couldn’t turn any of them away.
Kelly’s journey to Ormewood started during her undergraduate studies at Kennesaw State University. Initially drawn to become a veterinarian, she took a slight detour after taking some microscopic courses. She now has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Microbiology. Currently, Kelly is the receptionist at Ormewood but she’ll soon be headed off to veterinary school, where her passion for animal care will turn from greeting your pets to treating them. And we couldn’t be more proud of her ambition.
